STUDENT VS. FACULTY BASKETBALL! National Honor Society is hosting the Student vs. Staff Basketball game in Abigail Haigh’s Honor. Join us tonight, March 15 at 6:00 pm at the SHS Gym! Come and support your classmates and teachers. This event includes a bake sale, concessions and halftime contests! $3.00 for students, $4.00 for adults.
CALLING ALL BOOK GEEKS Teen Lit Mob Field Trip April 5! Want to hang with other kids who love books, spend the day attending seminars and listening to YA authors? How about FREE BOOKS? If this is for you, see Ms. Smith in the Library for details on this FREE event. Hurry as sign-ups end today, March 15.
CLUB PICTURE DAY is March 19 during Academic Advisory time.
ATHLETIC GEAR Students please remember to leave your athletic gear such as lacrosse sticks and baseball/softball bats in your car, locker, locker room, or in a teacher's classroom (with their permission). Equipment can be a distraction and pose tripping or poking hazards. If equipment becomes an issue, it may be confiscated. Thank you.
SERENADE PROJECT SHS Advanced Choir is presenting the Serenade Project! Have us sing for someone of your choosing! You can request us to serenade someone through our website: https://sites.google.com/u61.
SENIOR SLIDE SHOW Photos are needed! Please email your photos to: SHSSeniors@u61.net Make sure you include information on the photos, like the names of those in the photo, event (example 8th grade class trip or 2nd grade class at Barre City, etc.) and other information. If you would like to include baby pictures, make sure you send a recent photo as well so we can show the before and after pictures. Depending on the number of photos received, we might not be able to use the all, but send a variety. We want this slide show to represent as many students in the class as possible, but we need your help! If you have questions, please see one of your class officers.
COMMUNITY FORUM Wednesday, March 20 at 5:30 pm in the SHS Cafeteria. The topic is Personalized Learning Plans.
VSAC COLLEGE & CAREER PATHWAYS Thursday, March 21, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at St. Michael’s College for 10th & 11th graders. We will participate in two 45-minute workshops, eat lunch in the school cafeteria, and tour the campus. No cost to attend. Sign up in Guidance asap because slots fill up fast! Parents and students are also encouraged to attend the evening portion of the event from 5-8pm which offers a resource fair with programs and organizations that support Vermonters in achieving their college and career goals. BRIDGE BUILDING (STEM) Competition For High School, March 22 at Vermont Technical College, Randolph. Students build bridges out of popsicle sticks and are then judged on several aspects of engineering. Free to enter, Free lunch, t-shirts, plus scholarships to top performers. LAW CADET TRAINING PROGRAM Vermont Police Academy, sponsored by the Vermont American Legion. It is designed to help young people gain knowledge regarding training and responsibilities of Law Enforcement Officers. Minimum age of fourteen years of age to apply. Held June 16 - June 21. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis based on totally completed applications and the receipt of funds. Applications due by April 1. CENTRAL VERMONT CAREER FAIR Barre Auditorium April 3, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. We are taking a shuttle every hour. Sign up in Guidance to get on the shuttle. For more information see Michelle LeFrancis or Jayson Capobianco. Dress for success and have your resume ready. Many students walk away with job offers if they come prepared.

U-32 COLLEGE FAIR April 9, 6:30-8:30 pm. Calling all Parents and Students! Over 85 College and University have been invited to present. Raffle prizes for students who attend all sessions. 1st prize: IPad Mini! Tell your parents, friends, family and get there!
SENIORS Applications are available for the SHS In-House Scholarships. Go to the link on shsu61.org - For Students & Parents tab or Naviance under Document Resources. You are eligible for over 60 scholarships. Submit a hard copy of the completed application to Mrs. Cross in the Guidance office by 3:00 pm on April 10. Late applications will not be accepted. Don’t wait until the last minute!
The Dr. Ernest Reynolds’ Scholarship, The Ronald York Memorial Scholarship, and The Dante Bogni Memorial Scholarship supplemental applications are also available, both online and in Guidance.
