GIANT KUDOS to the cast and crew of The Cagebirds, including their fearless director, Ms. St. Raymond.  They placed at the top of their regional one-act festival on Saturday, and they are headed to the state festival in early April!

UVM MATH EXAM Wednesday, March 13 from 8:22 to 10:30 in the SHS Cafeteria.

TRAVELERS  If you are planning to travel with Chorus, Drama Club, French, or History either this year or in the next couple years and want to do some fundraising, Ms Gaudreau has forms for the Vermont Cookie Love fundraiser (selling frozen cookie dough).  See Ms. Gaudreau in Room 108 for a form. The fundraiser will run through March 13

CALLING ALL BOOK GEEKS Teen Lit Mob Field Trip April 5!   Want to hang with other kids who love books, spend the day attending seminars and listening to YA authors?  How about FREE BOOKS?  If this is for you, see Ms. Smith in the Library for details on this FREE event.  Hurry as sign-ups end this Friday, March 15. 

SERENADE PROJECT SHS Advanced Choir is presenting the Serenade Project!  Have us sing for someone of your choosing! You can request us to serenade someone through our website:, or via our request box in the cafeteria.  Provide the name of the person you want us to serenade, the time of day (advisory bands and block 3), the teacher's room they will be in, and the song you want us to perform.  The list of songs will be on posters around the school, and on our website.  Why not start serenading today?!

CALL FOR ARTISTS Students interested in entering artwork for the Congressional Art Competition, see Mrs. Reardon or Mr. Eaton for registration forms. Spaulding will select work from 5 students to represent us at the competition. Get forms today! Deadline is Friday, March 15.

STUDENT VS. FACULTY BASKETBALL! National Honor Society is hosting the Student vs. Staff Basketball game in Abigail Haigh’s Honor.  Join us on Friday, March 15 at 6:00 pm at the SHS Gym! Come and support your classmates and teachers. This event includes a bake sale, concessions and halftime contests!  $3.00 for studetns.  $4.00 for adults.

SENIOR SLIDE SHOW Photos are needed!  Please email your photos to:  Make sure you include information on the photos, like the names of those in the photo, event (example 8th grade class trip or 2nd grade class at Barre City, etc.) and other information.  If you would like to include baby pictures, make sure you send a recent photo as well so we can show the before and after pictures. Depending on the number of photos received, we might not be able to use the all, but send a variety.  We want this slide show to represent as many students in the class as possible, but we need your help!  If you have questions, please see one of your class officers.

CLUB PICTURE DAY is March 19 during Academic Advisory time.

COMMUNITY FORUM Wednesday, March 20 at 5:30 pm in the SHS Cafeteria.  The topic is Personalized Learning Plans.

VSAC COLLEGE & CAREER PATHWAYS Thursday, March 21, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at St. Michael’s College for 10th & 11th graders. We will participate in two 45-minute workshops, eat lunch in the school cafeteria, and tour the campus. No cost to attend.  Sign up in Guidance asap because slots fill up fast!  Parents and students are also encouraged to attend the evening portion of the event from 5-8pm which offers a resource fair with programs and organizations that support Vermonters in achieving their college and career goals. BRIDGE BUILDING (STEM) Competition For High School, March 22 at Vermont Technical College, Randolph. Students build bridges out of popsicle sticks and are then judged on several aspects of engineering. Free to enter, Free lunch, t-shirts, plus scholarships to top performers. LAW CADET TRAINING PROGRAM  Vermont Police Academy, sponsored by the Vermont American Legion. It is designed to help young people gain knowledge regarding training and responsibilities of Law Enforcement Officers. Minimum age of fourteen years of age to apply. Held June 16 - June 21.  Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis based on totally completed applications and the receipt of funds.  Applications due by April 1. For more information please call the American Legion at 223-7131, email at or go to

SENIORS Applications are available for the SHS In-House Scholarships. Go to the link on - For Students & Parents tab or Naviance under Document Resources. You are eligible for over 60 scholarships.  Submit a hard copy of the completed application to Mrs. Cross in the Guidance office by 3:00 PM on April 10. Late applications will not be accepted. Don’t wait until the last minute!

The Dr. Ernest Reynolds’ Scholarship, The Ronald York Memorial Scholarship, and The Dante Bogni Memorial Scholarship supplemental applications are also available, both online and in Guidance.
